  • Speedo / Tach / Gauges: Source for indicator light covers?

I'm looking for a source for GT Hawk turn signal lens covers.Mine are rusted and any I've found are similar.Studebaker Int. doesn,t have a listing at least in my catalog.I've been waiting for a new catalog which I heard were being sent but haven't seen yet.On last order from them I inquired about new catalog and was told they were being sent out in April.Has anyone seen them yet. Thanks

Are "turn signal lens covers" anything like Turn Signal/Parking Light Lenses? Are these for the FRONT of a Hawk, what year?

There are Housings, for '62, early '63, Late '63-'64 GT Hawks, and Lenses for '62 Hawks: NLA, and available Early and Late Amber '63, and Clear '64's, but NO "Covers".

Could he be talking about the green indicator lights on the dashboard?

That's what I thought he meant. Don't know a source, but the metal usually cleans up pretty good if removed from the dash, which is easy enough. I dislike the dark green lens, since I can barely see it during daytime. For quite some time now, have been considering replacement of the lens with a lighter green piece of plastic to cut to shape.

That's what I thought. If you are just wanting the little green lens that goes in the tiny chrome clips...I have used a plastic green pop bottle and made lens by taking a paper punch (like you used in school) and punching new plastic lens from them. The little chrome retainers, even if rusty, can be cleaned and polished with chrome polish. If the lens aren't dark enough, you add more plastic.

I no longer have my Hawk...but it worked for me.

Sorry for the confusion,I'm looking for the lense covers in a GT Hawk dash for the turn indicators. They're green with little black arrow on the face..Mine are rusted pretty bad and I don't think they'll clean up.I thought maybe somone knew a source to just replace them.

You might try carefully sanding the rust off and then paint the bezel silver until you find a set that will clean up. Pop the lenses out firstly. cheers jimmijim

Or you can pop the lenses out, buff them with 0000 steel wool, coat them with clear nail polish and reassemble them.

Model hobby shops have a "chrome " silver paint that looks real close to real chrome..

For a while I was using N.O.S indicator lights from 1959-60 Lark's and adding the black triangle to suit GT Hawk's and Avanti's. Worked well until the supply ran out. Then I found some Avanti II ones that had a jewel in the center that could be pushed out and the original green lens fitted to the new chrome rings, and then they ran out. Now I am getting the rings rechromed and adding a new black triangle decal to the lens. Looks great but takes a lot of time to get right.

                    Chris.
