Frame / Springs: coil spring questions

I've recently purchesd a 53 starlight coupe, p.o. installed a 289 auto. it's sitting very low, he said he cut 3/4 of a coil off, i'm sure the weight of the v8 vs I6 made it sit lower then stock. The question is which springs to use, i've seen them in the S.I. catalog, but it just says heavy duty nothing about a v8 or inline 6. Also they offer a set for 55 with a v8, will those work? thanks

Any....Stude along with many other brands will work.
The basic Stude chassis (spring pockets) didn't change from 53 - on.

I have a set of 72 Chevy Monte Carlo springs. Guess what, by dimension, they will fit. Might be a tad stiff as they are heavy duty and for a big block...but will fit.

I (and others) have installed late 80's full sized GM product rear coils from your local FLAPS @ around $40 a pair. Work fine....
