  • Karel Staple- Great Turnout and some special cars

We had more than 50 people turn out for our chapter meeting today, we actually overflowed the restaurant meeting room and had standing room only for the business part of the meeting. Afterwards we were invited to visit Nissen's Hot Rod Garage in Williams, CA where the custom 1934 Studebaker show car known as the "Stugatti" was built. John had a nice surprise for us by having the owner bring it down for all of us to see. Members were all impressed with the Nissen's operation and the cars they have under construction. They are definitely master fabricators and metal workers. As another treat one of our new members brought his recently found Studebaker Roadster to show us. Members were all making their best estimate as to what year it was after deciding that it did have a Light 6 engine and pointing out that it did not have front brakes.

Here are some pictures of the Stugatti, which is available for purchase by the way. The workmanship and vision are spectacular. No price was quoted, but the comment offered was it is reasonable for what the car is.

    And the roadster

And finally a non-chapter member stopped by to show us the '34 Studebaker 3 window coupe street rod he has for sale. ($40k) Sure beats your belly button 30 something Ford coupe, lol

I always found the Stugatti to be very stylish, indeed!

That Stugatti did turn out nice! It is not unlike what a European coachbuilder of the era would have made for a high-end client in the 1930's. http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.c...light=stugatti

I guess I am more fortunate than you and "some" of the Forum Members, I can admire the excellent workmanship on some of these Pre-1954 Cars and Custom/Street Rods, without having ANY desires to own any of either of them, even as a GIFT!

            No desire = no regrets!
