  • Is this a Studebaker? How can you tell?

The person selling this wheelbarrow claims it is a Studebaker, but only says that because the guy that she bought it from said it was. How can you tell without and emblem or stamp on it? Thanks.

The pictures I have seen of the Studebaker wheelbarrows have side bodies and off set spokes.

I found that John Mohler Studebaker made wheelbarrow and found some photo's when you Google "Vintage Studebaker Wheelbarrow". This should shed some light on the subject....

There's an original "wheelbarrow johnnie" on display at the El Dorado County Historical Museum in Placerville CA. Looks similar to this one.

Whiz over there and take a look-see at "Exhibits." Pic can be expanded by clickin' on it.

Besides John Studebaker, two other famous people got their start in business by "mining the miners" in Placerville aka Hangtown aka Dry Diggins.

Armour owned a butcher shop and Levi Strauss made trousers from sail canvas.

Doesn't the SNM have either an original or reproduction built to specs??
