I was replacing front end bushings etc. and was just curious as to why a bushing was used in the top end of kingpin and bearing on the bottom. What was the reasoning behind this ? Seems like bearings would have been better on both ends.

I'm guessing cost here since the bearing is the load carrier whereas the bushing/washer is used to 'center' the kingpin.--------------------------------------
