  • Engine: 1952-1953

Kind of a dumb question, but were there any internal engine changes made
from 1952 to 1953 in Champion six 170 cu. in. engines? Thanks

Very, very little changed from 1939 to 1954. The '47 to '50 had a center front engine mount that was changed to 1 on each side in '51-'52, but what will concern you, is that the Front Engine Mount Brackets and Mounts are different from '52 to '53.

The '52 is a 2 part upper and lower Donut, the '53 is like the V8 mount, a one piece cushion with a upper and lower Stud and plate bonded to the Rubber, much smaller bolt holes in the Bracket.

Scanning through the 1951 to 1954 Chassis Parts Catalog and checking the Pictures will explain many things like this.

Probably the biggest change was to the base of the carburetor and the intake manifold, with the addition of a hot air passage to the carb base.
