  • 53C License Plate lights

Does anyone know where I might purchase the above, either new or used?

Are there different lights for with or without the bumper guards?

    Thanks

Studebaker International sells them for $15 each. Part number 1559770.

      PERFECT, thanks.

I looked there first, but missed them entirely.

All '53 and '54's have Rear center Bumper Guards because of the need for License Plate protection and the DOT required Light or Lights.

Rich, I didn't know that, seen so many without the guards I thought it was an option.

Although they all did come STOCK with bumper guards, if you are building a custom, loosing the bumper guard helps clean up the lines of the car...

If you do that, you can use these to light your plate...

Dick, thanks, did you get some holes in the bumper filled before plating?

No. Unused holes filled with bumper bolts.

I had trouble making the new "stock lights" to stay in place... They just did not want to fit correctly. I ended up straightening & polishing the originals.

I just used the generic aftermarket ones you can find at most FLAPs. They look about 98% the same as the originals except w/o the stamped in numbers/letters (original mfg part number??).

Had to bend the tangs a bit to keep them in as they tended to want to pop out of the guard.
