Thanks, everyone. Best news of the day is that the Dr. backed off my blood pressure meds at today's routine appointment due to the situation improving! :D

Frank Remlinger: 'Glad you find the Studes interesting...or is it the odd-ball people they seem to attract? And don't be discouraged by Dick Steinkamp's 1963 Daytona Wagonaire selling for so much money; most of them are a lot less and you need one!

And, Kerry (Post #3), thanks for being the only to one to not speculate on a three-digit number! (It's actually 68.)

'Looking forward to York. :!: BP

You've got a good eye, Kerry: In one of the extant photos of Lincoln as an infant, Dick Quinn may be seen doddering along in the background, using a walker. BP

Happy Birthday, Brother. You are priceless not only to the hobby and your friends, but to your country. You are one of those people that when you put your feet on the floor in the morning, the Devil says "Aw crap, he's at it again!"

Here's hoping for many, many more. The Studebaker world, and the country, needs you more than ever! :)

Kurt, I was talking to a 91-year-old farmer today who said he recently had to pay $6.50 / gallon for propane to fuel his corn dryers, up from $1.50 earlier last fall.

Good grief; is that true? Is there really that much gouging going on? BP

I hear the birthday cake will have so many candles on it that all planes landing in Indy will be in a holding pattern until you get the candles blown out, otherwise they would be landing in your driveway! Happy Birthday Bob!

Rather than a Happy Birthday!, I wish you a healthy year with many more to follow.

Your 68th birthday really strikes a cord with me today. I went to the funeral of a 68 year old guy this morning and went to another funeral of a 68 year old guy within the past month. In between was a 74 year year old guy that I have known for 63 years. I guess this is to be expected at some point - people younger than you are dying.

Yes it it is true..... Propane got to $5.75 here a couple weeks ago. Prices have comedown though. I paid $3.00 to top off tanks here. Thank goodness for the new high efficiency furnaces in the house and the shop. Still with the cold weather it takes a lot of propane to stay warm!

Yes it did. Most of the "good stuff" is gone. I still have the frame that is in good condition and some misc trim. The rusty metal went to the scrapper.

Onward & Upward...and for you guys in the northeast, a little preview: As of today, we are making tentative plans to bring The Stude Tomato (with Ted Harbit driving) to the September 2014 Hemmings Muscle Palooza Drag Race event at Lebanon Valley Dragway in West Lebanon NY.

It will be quite an undertaking to get it there due to the distance, but we're going to try to make it happen once, since it is such a huge event and gets so much press in Hemmings publications.

Stay tuned and "...don't touch that dial!" :!: BP

I would like to make it there. I was scheduled to bring one of my Studebaker pickups there. I sold the pickup before the drags.
When in September is it? The SDC Northeast Zone Meet is 12-14 (would limit Studebaker attendees). My class reunion is 14-16 (I am on the committee, so should be there). I am scheduled for a run/walk on the 6th (could miss that). That's what's on my calendar seven months out.
