Just wondered if anyone noticed the "restored " Turq./Blu. w/blk/tan int. 63' R1 on E-BAY #181316809526. ( NC dealer). Check out the pic.of the glove box closely!!.NOW THAT'S A RESTO????WOWWW!!!. I guess that's why I never have been trustful of used/new car dealers--EVER. Seems most don't have clue what they're selling!! That's why they're on the top of my T.P. list, among a couple of other "professions". Man; I just want to do more than scream after reading/hearing their description spiel . Have noticed a lot of this lately. Anyone else?

You said a million words with one singular one........DEALER..........nuff said:-(Originally posted by arthurc1946 View PostYeah looks ok but not 20G worth. Cannot fathom why time was /is not taken to at least touch up easily spotted flaws. Shows me the seller doesn't know what he's talking about, just BS. Also what care the car had.

To me the biggest LIE is the 25,000 Original Miles! A more honest statement would be: "the Clock indicates 25,000, we do not know it's actual Miles".StudeRich

They have advertised it with having 25,700 miles ! Paint is peeling on the gauges, there is no weatherstripping on the doors, the engine compartment is painted black, etc, etc. A long time ago someone advertised a Avanti in Hemmings with having 12,000 original miles. This was prior to having the ability to send pictures via the internet, (1987) I asked all the questions during several telephone conversations and convinced myself the car was one I wanted. I flew cross country with $20,000 dollars to buy it. I arranged to have the car hauled, etc, etc. When I got to the sellers house I saw a Avanti in the garage and mentioned to my friend that I hoped he had another car hiding because this car was misrepresented. The seller's opinion was that this a fine car. I cautioned him that he should not represent it as a 12,000 mile car and possibly not even a 112,000 mile car. Several months went and he advertised it again as a 12,000 mile non restored original.

I'd much rather buy this round eyed, four speed car with 76K for about 1/2 the price.
Or this R2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Studebaker-A...US_Cars_Trucks

I just don't like the mirrors out on the fenders...too bad that's nothing that could be changed easily.
Still, a good value it seems.Bill Pressler

Actually, the 83 looks like a decent car. A simple broke plastic shifter lens doesn't trash a whole car. Bashing these cars from thousands of miles away does nothing to help the reputation of SDC and the forum in particular.Bez Auto Alchemy

Studebaker started with the woodgrain at serial number R4730 or thereabouts. Those two cars are earlier production so the woodgrain panels would have been retrofitted to them.Poet...Mystic...Soldier of Fortune. As always...self-absorbed, adversarial, cocky and in general a malcontent.
