  • Those top-clips...

I've had a front door-panel removed on my -55 sedan & today I put it back & that's allmost(!) all good...
The ordinary clips around the edges are easy enough to get from any other car, they're mostly the same, but the ones on the top under the stainles trim is a totally different matter...
So now I've been googeling & looking at sites but I can't see any!
Does anyone know where to find them & are they the same as on other models & years?
I need 5, only 2 were still ok & not broken, makes me wonder how long it's been like that since there were screws holding the panel in every corner.
& this was only one of 4 panels...

I don't have a clue about part-numbers, I just have the car & I can't see any numbers at all on these little clips.
Hasn't anybody removed the door-panels & seen these clips in person?
They're on the top of the panel, under the trim-strip, maby it's only on the Regal model?

I know the clips you speak of. Trust me - they're unique to Studebakers that used that stainless cap strip on door panels. They don't have numbers ON them. As Brad noted, their assigned Studebaker part number is 298819. That number will only mean anything to STUDEBAKER parts vendors - not upholstery parts suppliers - not local or national auto parts outlets - no one but Stude parts vendors with inventoried parts stocks. They were used on various '53 thru '58 model Studes and PackardBakers. Let us know if you find some.
No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

At Colorado Springs I bought the top stainless piece for the passenger side front on my 55 sedan.
Got it from the Starlight Studebaker booth. [they are a nice young couple]
I asked if they had any of the clips for it, they didn't have any with them and from his comments it didn't sound like they had any, Period.
You might try contacting them and ask, or ask S. I. even though I don't see them listed.
I was lucky to find a few on a parts car I bought.

I just e-mailed Studebaker International to see if they have them & trying to order some.
I never ordered anything from internet before so I'll see how & if it goes...
Then again now that I'm thinking about it less stressed I could probably get them closer by here in Europe, bugger!
Well, nothing's really-really ordered yet, only a question about it.
