  • OHV Six valve cover

Two weekends ago while attending the Western Can-Am in Penticton I came across a man who had a 64 Cruiser with a chrome valve cover on his Stude OHV six. He claimed that it was stock. I could not dispute this statement. Anyone know for sure? If there is one out there I probably will change my painted one.
Also Lionel Stone I believe does something to all valve covers and installs a new seal and gasket for $75. Anyone have experience with his modification? Regards 007

    I thought all '64 Cruiser's had V8's. [?]

And it would be painted yellow to be stock. I have seen them stripped and polished though. [xx(]

But if you strip and polish a steel valve cover it'll rust overnight (in Georgia)

I got a pair of cast aluminum covers for my 259 V8. After grinding off the rocker arms in the area that bumped the side of the covers, I got 3/16" s.s. fender washers and with a snall chainsaw file, I filed the holes off center for the 5/16" holes for the bolt downs and shifted the coveres off center. That cured the problem of the rockers bumping the valve covers.!
        Anyone else have this problem?

64 Accessory book has chrome covers with chrome dipstick and breather caps as AC3421.

This thread is getting a little mixed up...and I didn't do it for a change[:0].

I think that Canadian made '64 Cruisers did come with a 6 cylinder option, but Craig or Art could probably confirm or deny this.

I think the AC3421 chrome package is for a V8 car.

I think the Lionel Stone seal kit is for the SIDE COVERS on a 6 cylinder (the ones under the manifolds on the block), not the top cover on an OHV 6. The top cover seals quite nicely with the stock set up.

I have never seen a FACTORY OHV 6 with a chrome valve cover, but...

            1. ANYTHING is possible with our Studebakers [8D]
            2. It would look great even if not stock (especially with a few more carburetors. []
