Today I had a chance to snap some quick pictures of a 1963 Wagonair that is for sale it is a 259 V-8 with 3 speed and overdrive car, no power steering or power brakes it is a Daytona, it is rust free with good glass all the way around except the windshield is cracked on pass side, the engine was running but the owner pulled it out and now it is a basket case but all there, this car is complete, the wheels and tires in the picture do not go with the car but stock ones do...$3500.00
and I mean rust free and nice body, take a look.

So how much for you to buy it and deliver to South Bend in the spring? Could you do something like that? I am curious. Any room on the $3500? Thanks.

I am in awe of the condition of the body on this Wagonaire....What a worthwhile car to restore!

First thing to do, take off that stupid stick-on bumper strip on the side of the car!

Good morning Rich, At this time I have nothing planned for a trip this spring and with my wife down and will be it might even screw up Dover in July, but I do have a friend that does make trips back and forth from Ohio I have put him in touch with other member for hauling, as for the price owner is rather firm at this time on that price as most first timers with the Studebaker can get more into them right at the beginning, my guess unless some one back east doesn't step up it will go out of the country.

Great start for a R2 4-speed clone.
We all know Bob's rep and his accurate descriptions.
Great project for the rust belters

eer, I think the R2 and four speed best be saved for the '63 two door hardtop or post car Bob!;)

No problem Bob. I might have been indulging in some wishful thinking. I still have braces to pay for darn it. Still I had to ask! Thanks!!!

Why particularly for us rust belters-- West Coast folk wouldn't be interested?

Does it have the third seat? I might get my wife interested in it if it does. Perhaps more pictures of the interior too.

We would alright, but MORE East Coasters should be, because we have way more of these rust free, dry area Cars out here than they do.

If for instance I were out of Wagonaires,:D and a Calif. or Arizona Car would push my budget too far to haul 1300 to 1600 miles to Washington, I can just wait till next Week or Month for the next one!

Well, there's this one up in Maine that's been on offer for a long time, and cheaper, though it's in rougher shape...I guess we're just not very excited about them. I see your point in general; I have a '37 Pierce-Arrow Travelodge trailer in decent shape inside, which came from out West, and all the ones I've seen that stayed in the East are pretty far gone inside.

Might as well add this one- 259 AT, runs/drives/stops, pretty solid overall, interior usable as is (WC cars don't have that), lots of parts, $1500. And, already on the East Coast.http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a243/bams50/null_zps8eb46f0a.jpg (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/bams50/media/null_zps8eb46f0a.jpg.html)

That's too funny.

It is funny to me because I know it is NOT always true.

Sure, there are exceptions to every rule. But the majority of cars out there that need complete restoration have dashboards that are completely turned to powder, and every bit of upholstery is the same way. Even worse, every bit of rubber weatherseal is also completely destroyed.

I have bought several cars from the West Coast and Southwest that needed restoring, and I have not yet been able to buy one with any semblance of usable interior. However, I have bought Northeast cars that didn't have a lot of Ross, and had very nice original interiors and rubber. And, did so without the $1500 shipping bills

So the thing experience has taught me is, if you're buying from the West Coast, think about what the interior is. It's probably not going to be in good shape.

The wagon has been moved and owner lowered the price some, here are a few more pictures of what a rust free wagon in California, also some of the interior, shipping of 1500 on this car compared to to floors , tire well area and don't for get the tail gate, it will be a long time until you find one this good, it is manual window the goes up and down like a dream, in fact all the doors and windows work real good and smooth, also a picture or two the the interior. the tire lid does need to be replaced plywood coming apart.

I have another 63 Daytona Wagonaire with 259 2barrel, overdrive, radio, manual tailgate and manual steering and brakes, but it had factory dual exhaust. I guess it was ordered new by someone who knew exactly what they wanted and would pay for.
