Were there ever any stude/mb advertisements, signs etc?

Yes - I recall a full page, or two, joint advertisement for 1958 (IIRC).

Do an eBay search, I have often seen MB ads from this period.

The ones I remember were black and white graphics with no actual photos. I purchased several a number of years ago but had them framed and gave them to a friend who operates a Euro-specific repair shop.

Actually, Google is your friend.

All of them I had were from National Geographic magazines in the late 50's and were just black and white Mercedes ad's that had something about being distributed by S/P corp. or something like that. Still neat looking ads, though. Like rockne10 says, all I ever had or seen were "art" instead of pics. I bet Bob P. or Mr. Quinn can dig one out !

Actually I may have a copy of this bottom 300 one. I was thinking of a dealer type sign which I might be able to duplicate somewhere on my mercedes powered CE that I am building.

I once had a box of several 100 color news print inserts with both brands of 58's, maybe a few pages long. Looked like something you'd get in your Sunday paper.

That is the one that first came to mind for me. This was a newspaper ad that Studebaker-Packard made reprints of to use as handouts. I have one here someplace. I try to keep only one of each item, that adds up to enough (2.5 rooms)

I have seen some 1963-66 era Studebaker packaging that also carried the M-B name and logo. I showed it to my uncle who owns a M-B dealership and he was most amused!

I have my grandfathers leather key fob from McClelland Motors in Washington, PA. It is embossed with Lark and logo on one side and Mercedes Benz and logo on the other.

Prior to his involvement with Studebaker-Packard, Roy Hurley of Curtiss-Wright was negotiating with Daimler Benz to import Mercedes' into the US. The stumbling block was that Max Hoffman had exclusive rights for New York and California.

Once Hurley agreed to bail out Studebaker-Packard, prez James J. Nance negotiated with Hurley to allow select Studebaker-Packard dealers to sell Mercedes in the US. When Hoffman's contract with Daimler Benz expired, the cars appeared in S-P showrooms in 1958.
