    I was just reading about that in the book "The Fall of the Packard Motor Co." by James Ward.

            Our local Studebaker dealer did sell (or try to!) the German Lloyd Alexander in 1957. I can remember sitting in it on their lot.

                More interesting puzzle pieces...
                Can you imagine a GOAI where they say
                "What tires will fit my Goggo#695?"
                (I doubt they would have reached a thousand..but what do I know?)

                    Just as a side note...when Goggomobile went out of business, they sold their factory in Dingolfing, Germany (just north of Munich) to BMW (who was then just getting started with "real" cars). BMW currently builds ALL of their 5 and 7 series cars at this factory.

                        Didn't Studebaker turn down the opportunity to be the U.S. distributor for Volkswagen in the early '50's? With all the German car considerations one wonders if Studebaker was looking at the family tree at the time.
