  • 2R5 Series Rear View Mirror

Does anyone know if the 2R5 series 1/2 ton trucks came with rear view mirrors in the cabs? if so anyone have a picture? Also have about a good used one for sale or a vendor that sells a good reproduction?
    Thanks,

Yes they had rearview mirrors but was not a standard thing . They are a very hard option to find. I have one on my 52 truck and can take a picture of it if no one else shows one.

The Stude item number for that mirror is, this mounts right on the windshield divider strip. item #276536X1

I searched the Truck Talk site and it appears the photo links of my mirror are gone (thread is there w/o pics)

I'll check my archives, 2R5 may beat me to posting.
As stated, they are hard to find, don't be suprised to see a price of 100 for one.
I've seen a few trucks take the later style "stem" mirror designed for use with the One piece windhield and mount/screw it into the headliner area.

As far as I know NO reproductions are/have being/been made.

Interesting mirror but I don't think that is a stock R series factory mirror.....still neat though !

I did not see this thread before.
I have a mirror exactly like the one in post #4 with the bracket
Make me an offer before I put it on Ebay.
It is N.O.S in the box.

Bob - you wouldn't have an NOS mirror for an M5 would you?

                          Sorrry about the late reply.
Is the mirror shown in post#4 for a M5.
If not , does anyone have a picture of the inside rear view mirror from a M5.

Post 4 is for a 2R and has the same mount as an M5 and fits but the mirror is not the same. The mirror shape in posts 7 and 8 are for an M5 - more oval than for the 2R.

You know...we have a rule, in judging, that non-stock items added to our vehicles for safety are not to be points deductions. Surely, in the way aftermarket turn signals, and safety belts...rear view mirrors, interior and exterior, should be viewed the same. My position is that disc brake conversions and safe modern wiring should also be encouraged by excluding them from judging deductions. In fact, original cloth wiring (not the reproduction with modern looking cloth cover) should be a point deduction.

Of course, now that I'm older (and mellowed out a bit), I wouldn't care if judging at our events were eliminated. Although, it has been promoted as the highlight of our meets throughout the years...the subjectivity, arguments, hurt feelings, and strained friendships, have lingered long after the silly trinket trophy has tarnished and been shoved under a bed or the back corner of a closet. I would love to see us place our emphasis on the pure fun of "arriving" at meets, renewing friendships and making new friends...followed up by, a big "sigh of relief," as you safely roll back into your own driveway.

We have another topic regarding "rare as hens teeth" parts. Good original truck interior "rear-view" mirrors was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that thread.
