Been reading previous thread on trials and tribulations of
removing door hinge screws. When I first attempted
this, I tried to remove the hinges from the car.. In doing so,
I really messed up the recessed screws (before I learned
what an impact driver is.) and finally gave up.
See pic,.
Then I tried the hinge to door screws and was lucky enough to
get the doors of without much trouble. Now to my problem:
I really want to remove the hinges so that I can replace the hinge pins. Using an impact driver, I do have three of the four (concave heads) screws off, but the recessed ones will have to be
drilled out. I see that the outer screws have a floating
bolt behind, but the inner, recessed screws appear to have a
nut that is spot welded to the door post(cowl side) which is easily accessible.... See pic
So my question is: is the screw fixed in place as appears?
(better prospect for drilling), if so why do the others have floating bolts if there is no adjustment at this side of the hinge?
I need to really understand what I am dealing with before I go
too far........
