Just noticed the Goodyear blimp in the photo of the large Goodyear tire/service station from the 1920's.

Studebakers were very thrifty on gas, that's why they weren't seen in a lot of those service station pix!!!

BTW: Two of these photos were taken relatively recently.

The uh.."Rat Rod" in front of Clay's Service Station. The sign up top says in part "Museum" and I really doubt that original rodders used a miltary helmet to cover the aircleaner.

The other modern photo is the Pontiac station wagon towing the stainless trailer in front of the Shell station. The Pancho has modern tire and wheel combo.

Cool photos. And educational for me. I didn't realize that "gasahol" was promoted in the '30s, although I know that early 20th century cars would run on almost anything combustible. Now, I'm not so worried about finding 100% gasoline for my '35. Also didn't realize that "self serve" dates back to at least the '40s.

What? No globes on the pumps? Too easy for someone to lift them or use them for target practice, I suppose. Your Hawk really spiffs up the place!

Thanks for the memories, still remember gas for 25.9 cents. The B17 Bomber Gas Station reminded me of my flight on "Nine-O Nine" B17J model 2years ago.A fathers day gift from my son.We flew from Spokane Wa. to Kalispel Montana on a clear winters day. There was still snow on the mountains and the pilot flew it closer to the ground for us other than the mountains we had to cross over.I had to cross out that entry on my "Bucket List"..

Worked in a Sinclair station while in High School that was built

A few years ago my wife and I stopped by Cornell University after dropping off
"The Boy" at SUNY Cortland. We bought gas at a old Sunoco station that was
built in the late 1920's according to the owner.
