A Pristine 1961 Hawk!

This has to be one of the nicest '61 hawks around!.....It made the covers of 'Turning Wheels' in the recent past, and old SN-60 always enjoys looking her over.....really, really nice example!

Many Stude fans (Myself included ) feel the 1961 Hawk coupe to be the most 'perfected' of the '53-''61 original 'C' series. The '61 Hawk that I owned steered much easier than, say, My old '56 Power Hawk (both had manual steering), and the cushy bucket seats with the factory four speed floorshift really made that car fun to drive. As with My current Speedster, I put a supercharger on that '61....it moved pretty good!!

That is correct, it was very close to the '62-'64 Wheel Color, and although this Green Hawk is a beautiful Car, I don't see that White looking, Fin stripe as being correct.

I'm not a big fan of green cars but this Hawk comes off to me as tasteful elegance. I really like it, wrong color fin or not!

Studebaker called that color 'Green Jade' I believe.

I owned a 1961 in that color. I thought that it was Jade Green.
The large 1961 brochure, PD-61-16, has a 1961 Hawk in that color across two pages.

Neither was I until I got my '63 Cruiser in Green Mist. It's much greener than this Hawk.

That white inset color looks pretty dang close to original to me. Looks to be the same shade found on the Coral 61 Hawk I sold a few years ago.

One nice thing when you redo a car you plan on keeping, you can do it as you wish. My 61 was originally Black with white insert, never had been repainted. I changed it to "Blaze Red" as that is what I wanted, it goes well with the red interior. When I chose the white for the fin insert, I actually did not stick with the original shade of white Stude used, "Pearl Beige" per above, I went with a whiter white as I thought it looked better. Just like I painted the front splash pan body color instead of silver as I thought it also looked better. As I will probably have this car until I am in the ground, I really will not care what others have the say after I am gone. And I do not like having cars judged so no issues there.
