What is a good aftermarket bucket seat for the 53 starlight?
    Thanks

Anything is going to fit, but everything is going to need some modification

Do you mean from a donor car or a true aftermarket seat like a Recaro?

What is the "theme" of your car? Are you looking for something from the 60's or something from this century?

I built my '54 Starliner as a 60's hot rod so 62-65 GM buckets fit the theme just right...

Well I going for more of a modern look, want some buckets from a late model, but would like low back seats about the same height as the stock ones
      Thanks

since from earlier threads - you're going to make some major mods - whatever looks good to you and your pocketbook.

as Mr. S stated, most should fit. take measurements to make sure, then go for some cheapo seats available on e-bay, to some costly racing seats elsewhere. don't forget good seatbelts in you're looking at 500HP under the hood!!!

Some of those "racing" seats have too narrow of a side bolster to fit 'larger' humans (like me). Find one you think looks good, and sit in it first before deciding .

I think that'll be hard to find.

You'll have to show me an example of those. "late model" and "low back" doesn't compute for me.

Roll into your local wrecking yard/ Pick-a-part site with a tape measure and set in some you think look good. Around here a complete set (front and back) go for about $250 and $400 with air bags. Some will have integral seat belts if you desire.

Pay attention to the way they mount. I have a set of 2007 Acura in my 54K and have a set of 2007 Pontiac G6 GTP seats ready for my 74 Avanti.

Be sure to get the wiring harness with them and you'll have power seats and possibly heated also. I do.

You might consider the procar rally or 90 series by Scat. They look modern, and are available in a low back.

The beauty of the current crop of midsize/full size cars is that a ton of them have dimensions that are just about right for C/K derived bodies.

I'll add that I used the rear seat also.

I like the Procar seats too. Other seats to consider are older BMW and Volvo seats. They are supportive and low profile. Both are plentiful in the Pick 'N Pull yards around here.
