Just thought I would share this with everyone. It might be familiar to some but it now has a new home. I'll post additional pictures and info soon.
It is my first Studebaker so I'm sure I'll be utilizing the vast knowledge located on the forum quite a bit.

Was this Tom Elliott's "Starla"?

Actually, this was Tom Elliott's car. He owned about a dozen 51 Studes over the years. This Starlight Coupe he bought in 1974 and it was his first car. He sold it around 2009 or so, just a couple of years before he died. Just before he sold it, I got it running for him and he drove it all around. Was the first time the car had ran in over a decade.

Hope you give her a good home!

It took a second, but I knew this car looked familiar.

Good score, and post some more pics of it!

Beautiful car! What a wonderful Studebaker
To have as a first one. Mine was a 1950 Land Cruiser.
Welcome to Studebaker, there is no known
cure! You may go into remission like I did
But it always comes back!
Met Andy Beckmann at Gettysburg, rejoined Studebaker
that same day!

Welcome to the wonderful and crazy world of Studebaker. You should be able to get all the information and guidance you need here on the forum. I swear, I think there are guys on here that were around when Studebaker was building wagons.
I love seeing the "Bullet Nose" cars staying on the road. I love mine. Have fun and happy motoring. :!!:

Any comments/criticism (that will just help me figure out what I'm doing) are appreciated. Here are a few additional photos and a video of the engine . The car has some "worn" spots and a couple engine leaks - oil?? (hopefully just some worn seals) but in time I think it will be a wonderful restore. I'll post additional info AND questions another time. Thanks

welcome to the "elite" group of "Tom's Car" owners!!!:)

re: the oil leak(s), it's fairly standard for Studebaker engines to leak a bit of oil. when i got my '51, i cleaned the engine, and checked for tightness of every bolt i could - a few were bit loose and were torqued to spec - that helped some and located areas that new gaskets will be needed. i plan on going into the engine to replace valve guides and whatever else i find very soon, and/or do some "upgrades" in the engine bay ;).

first, join the SDC (Studebaker Drivers Club), then your local Studebaker club. there are quite a few Stude experts in WV and surrounding areas. be sure to purchase the 1951 Shop Manual, 1950-51 Body parts catalog and a 1951-54 Chassis Parts catalog. most everything you may need can be found here: http://www.studebakervendors.com/

if i can be of service, let me know.

Yes, I need to clean the engine as well to get a better idea of exactly where the leak(s) are. It does look like it/they are located on the passenger side of the engine.
I did join the SDC on Friday and I have yet to get with a local chapter. Fortunately, both manuals came with the car! There was also a 2012 SI catalog too. I have plenty of reading to do.
I'm sure I'll have several questions so I appreciate your offer.

Thanks
