  • 53 weatherstrip

    Hi all,
I was hoping to find a vendor who could restore the flipper type weatherstrip for my 53 hardtop. I looked through the search feature as well as the vendor list and couldn't identify a particular vendor who could do this work.

Additionally, I saw several folks were having difficulty getting these to operate well and opted to do away with them altogether. Do any of you have any strong leanings one way or the other? I'd like to keep them if they can be fixed properly but not at a the expense of the car.

    I'm a carpenter but I do know H2O + Fe = Fe2O3-nH20.

    Thanks much.

Dwayne Jacobson is the only one I know who currently does 'flippers'.

I have an extra set of flippers from a 1956 Golden hawk restoration that was never completed because of structure rusk issues. They were restored with new outside cat whiskers, springs work and they were machine polished, aside from that not sure what else constitutes "restoration" of flippers. These are out of a 56 but they match the pair on my 54 commander. Does anyone know for sure if they will fit and operate properly on the 53? PM if you have an interest. Ken, Deltaville Va
