Got a message today John. My computer came up with a phishing message right away.

It's just a guess, but I imagine having your email addie in your sigline like that doesn't help matters much.
It's one reason why if I ever saw someone putting mine out there like that I'd want them to delete it.
Same goes for phone numbers and the like. That is what PMs are for.
            Computer/web geeks- am I right?

But now I see Mike does the same thing.
And I am at a loss...

I received one. In the address box is John's e-mail address, not his name. I opened it and provided my e-mail address, password and telephone number in an attempt to get to a document at Google (supposedly sent by John). Hopefully, this does not create a problem for me or those in my address book.

If you did that you'd better quick change your password before it's too late. Do a full virus scan of your computer too.

Yes you are correct. By freely posting your personal email address and phone numbers on any public forum, you are inviting scammers and hackers to take you for a ride. Leaving your personal phone number is extremely risky as you leave yourself vulnerable to scams outside the web and phone hacks. You wouldnt believe the amount of information that can be collected on someone by simply using their email address and phone numbers.
