Beautiful car and worth every penny of $30K, if, and that's a big if, one wants to drive a ProStreet. They're pure hell in a straight line and not so much at anything else. They don't turn, stop, handle or ride all that well.

Popular Hot Rodding magazine has been trying to popularize a new muscle car trend they call ProTouring. The concept is an equally balanced blend of acceleration, braking, cornering and ride. If the subject car were built in that direction, I'd probably be on the way to the wet side to look at it.

About 13 months ago, I was driving up to Ferndale, WA to the Sunday car show sponsored by the Whatcom County SDC Chapter when I rolled up on a really pretty Stude stopped on the shoulder of I-5 about ten miles south of Bellingham. I stopped, rolled down my window and asked the driver if everything was alright. He said there was no problem and he didn't need any help so I proceeded on. A mile or two up the road he blew past me. When I got to the show in Ferndale and my 85-year old friend, who's old Buick I'd been escorting to the show, had finished registering, I took a look around and there was the Stude.

Looks like the same car. Same wheels, same stance, same clean silver powder-coated bumpers, same NHRA sticker on the right-rear windshield; same brown bucket seats; but stripped of the side chrome, Studebaker letters added above the grill and flames and whatsis art added.

I love flames ,but have to admit to liking the pictures of Mike's with trim and no flames better than the first photo. That being said, I would love to own either way and if it is the same car, it's the owners ride and should be built the way he/she wants it !

I'm gonna go out on a limb and agree with you. This car has been to our Annual Car show for at least the last two years. Each year it's been the same story--- everyone stops to look when it's at the far far end of the park. That's about when they hear it coming. Being the parking guy, I have had to direct him where to park. Both times he ended up having to shut it off so he could hear what I was trying to say. And I was standing right next to him- at the driver's window!!!
It's a nice ride, but it's very loud, even at an idle.
I also agree that (if it was mine) I'd put the trim back on.

Now that certainly is wild. Prefer it without the flames (knowing a tad about flames myself).

I'll be the first to admit..I like a car with "full" wheel wells... but he blew it with the overall stance. Way too tall in the rear. If he/they went to all the trouble to build a racer style round tube chassis, they shoulda set the stance a bit more toward level/modern.

And yea, should have left the graphics to a jetski.

Interior is mostly nice as is under the hood, though the silly upper radiator hose deal is a bit off of the rest of the layout.

                  Just my nickles worth.

                  Mike

I'd be surprised if it isn't plagued with overheating issues. Air should not be able to pass around the radiator without going thru the radiator!

Well I'll be darned, those Pics Mike O'Handley posted are at our local, Annual Hovander Park, Whatcom County Chapter Car Show!

That shows you how much I notice Modifieds, especially when I am busy at the Swap Meet all day.

Did anyone notice it has a Speedster dash? In the "pre" graphics photos when it was at the car show I see a familiar "diamond" pattern on the rear seat. I wonder if it is/was a Speedster?
Either way I like the stance and would love to have it. Although I admit I would put the trim back on.
