  • So, this guy goes into a repair shop...

And says "I want you to put a new rear axle under my Lark."

Maybe I should have put this in the bad repair job thread.

Well, the pinion shaft is pointing the wrong way.... BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

I have been waiting for the forum member that knows "the Rest of the Story" to chime in, but I can say the car needed to roll and what was handy was used. Take notice that for extra safety, spare brake backing plates and assemblies were included. And not only is it in there backwards, it is also upside down and sitting under the springs. It gives the car a jaunty rake.

It looks like the old backer plates were used as spacers and are wedged between the tires and the taut chains.

Photo optical illusion, the backing plates are pretty much hanging there on the E-brake cables from the car and some wire around the springs. The taught chains and binders are holding the car on the trailer. Figuring out a secure anchor point for the chains was a challenge, we were not going to trust wrapping them around the axle. Incidentally, I was not involved in placing the axle under the car, that's how we got it. I just helped get it on a trailer and transport it to where bones could be further picked.
