48 Champion trunk handle/lock

Are they the same between 48-49? Champion, Commander etc?
Looking around for one and don't know what will interchange.

the bases are the same for 47-49 , the handles are different due to the difference in locks, Yale vs hurd. 47 champ used both hurd and yale, 48 and 49 champ used yale, and 47-49 commander and land cruiser used hurd locks.

But you can still use a a hurd lock trunk handle on your 48 Champ which originally had a yale lock as long as you do not mind having another key




After all this, what it really means is that any handle assembly off any 47-49 car will fit on your car.

PS The base and lift handle can be separated as long as you have the key.

Thanks Milt. Since I have no keys at all, those differences won't be a problem.
There is one on ebay that looks pretty decent for around 50 bucks. But it is cracked on top.

They are not that hard to find, I would wait for one that is not cracked.

Yeah, I'm not in a big hurry anyway. I have a line on some parts in Texas. I'll wait and see how that pans out.
