Anyone use these mounts from SI ? I had to open up the two upper bolt holes,"no biggie" I already knew that was needed. though the lower stud is a little short compared to the origonal mount, and does't take up the entire nut "I'd prefer full contact" but should be ok. but here is my real concern, after tightening the two upper bolts. as I tightened the lower nut it seemed to pull the plate mount upward just a tad "this is a Champ with automatic" towards the base of the mount.should that be in a relaxed position when tightening the lower nut ? I would have to egg shape the two upper bolt holes a little to let the mount drop some if that is the case

Hi Joe,

I hate to tell you this....but you have the wrong mounts. These are for a Hawk.

You need 1539442-3 mounts.

Hi Chris, well in SI's catalog # 1544970-1 is for 56-58 all models except 56,57 hawk-59-64 hawk-63-64 avanti and 56-64 truck.I'm not sure if these are replacement mounts for no longer available truck mounts? they will work, just that little tweaking thing I guess.

Ignore the catalog, it is incorrect. Ask them to send you the correct mounts, or for some explanation on how these are supposed to be modified. Check with the truck parts catalog if you are not sure.

Joe the only other Automatic Trans. Rear Engine Mounts of that type are the 1547202 & 203 for Larks and the difference is only about 1/2 inch fore or aft location of those 2 holes that go into the Torque Converter, would that have helped you?

I am sorry I do not have one available at this time to tell you which Part Number has the holes Forward and which is to the rear, but it would be opposite of yours.

I agree with Rich; the S.I. listing is incorrect. On Chuck Collins site he shows 1547202-03 replacing 1539442-43. The factory parts book shows 1539442 used at right rear, and 1692311 at left rear.

Wow, originally that rare Automatic Champ had really Special Engine Mounts! An older Car on the Right and a New Truck only mount on the left.

But then they always were very precise with their fitment issues, like the Driveshafts being made in One 64th. of an inch increments!
