  • Still driving our Studebakers: The Expedition to Halifax, Nova Scotia

Ford Stoecker, his cousin Steve, John Burgh, and Bob Burk are driving cross country to Nova Scotia and back. I was able to join them in New England for a couple of days en route. I put on about 600 miles over three days. Other people will be driving part of the way with them. Those guys will be putting on many thousands before they get home!

    See the story here: http://www.studegarage.com/fall-tour-2013.html

Nice story Gary, I'll send them an email as they will be passing by my front door on the Montreal-Toronto leg, maybe I can put a few miles on with them.

I sure hope the weather co-operates as they pass through Peggy's Cove, in Nova Scotia, a scenic highlight of the East Coast. I traveled there 2 years ago in the spring only to see thick fog and this scene from 10 feet away.

On another note, we (SDC) have plenty of members along that Montreal-Toronto corridor all the way to Detroit, which is nice to know when driving old cars on a long trip. They will be driving virtually by my door as well on the QEW, just past Toronto. Let us know if we can lend a helping hand.

Should be nice this time of year. I lived there for a while when I was an instructor at the Coast Guard College. I think that the fall weather is the best.
If you had the time you might want to do the Cabot Trail but not with a '31 Dictator.

Where's the update on this adventure? Maybe they got into some "Screech" and haven't recovered yet.

LOL, Bill. I was a bureau manager for the Cape Breton Post for a couple of years. There was a "heavy water" plant in the area that never got up to operational standards. The only "heavy water" to come out of Cape Breton was, indeed, screech.
