  • dash momentary starter switch does not work

What are the troubleshooting tips for the dash momentary starter switch that does not work. I took the switch out and cleaned the ends...nothing. I put the two wires together....nothing. I tried another momentary switch....nothing. I can start the engine with the key on and by using the push button switch on the solenoid.....thanks.....brad

If it's a automatic, check the neutral start switch or it's linkage.

I use a multimeter to check for continuity when the switch is activated.

In the absence of a meter, could you run a jumper to bypass the switch? Not knowing, just asking.

Sure, jump it, make sure it's in Park and try to start it.

It was a bad (new) solenoid with about 30 starts on it. So after installing 2/0 cables, attaching the ground to the starter bolt, a new Solenoid from CarQuest in stock, the 6 turns over like a 12 volt and runs again..........thanks for the help..........Brad
