I find it curious that on the Champ, Speedster and presumably all '50's/60's Studebakers the frame mount of the pivot bar is mounted under the frame and offset up instead of down. On the Speedster this causes the cables between equalizer and brake drums to drag/rub on a frame cross member (carrier bearing maybe).
I can see an issue in inverting it if you plan on driving in cornfields or off-roading in Colorado but it seems to make no sense to create a deliberate squeak or rattle.
