  • Steering: Modify bushing for Saginaw steering box.

I am rebuilding the steering box on my 1953 Champion K body. Stude Intl. has a substitute
for the cross-shaft bushing that fits into the cover. Was PN 531140, now 680209, with note
'modify'! Has anybody done this? What sort of modification is required - shorten length?
If so, is there a prefered method of doing this, besides 'carefully'

How does the substitute bushing compare to the original bushing...what is the difference between the two?

I found those local when I rebuilt my box. Get a cut off die gringer, or hacksaw out and cut to length, is what I did. BTW, I did a tech on this in the Tech and info here. Easy rebuild
