  • does anyone have a studebaker factory uniform they would sell?

I am looking for any worker uniform ( hopefully that fits me). My girlfriend is planing a halloween party and said she wants me to dress up but gave me no limits so I decided studebaker worker it is. Anyone with one to sell or trade please let me know. Thanks

Check with a Bokon family member.
Just about the whole family worked for Studebaker.
Hopefully they didn't burn all their Studebaker uniforms in Dec 1963!

I am not aware of any "worker uniform." Some wore aprons to protect their everyday work clothes but that's about it. You would have better luck looking for dealer coveralls or shop coat. However the originals of these are quite rare. I have a few. Photos of these have been posted on this forum in the past. Here is one:

Check with Tom Karkiewicz, he always seems to have a pair of coveralls for sale at the May swap!

You can buy new work wear clothing, stitch on the Studebaker patch and a name patch. It wouldn't be hard to do...

OK, so I'm going to make my own 'dealership' style coverall. Any idea what color they were? Blue? White? Does anyone have a picture? There are a few Studebaker patches that can be sewn on and I'm sure I can get a name patch with 'Tom' on it.

In the day, the name emblems were either direct embroidered or on an oval. You can still get Studebaker emblems but those oval names are pretty hard to find.

A personal friend of mine who worked for a Packard Dealer before he was drafted in WW2.
Told me they used white coveralls with white shirts underneath with black bow ties. From the service manager down to the grease pit boy.

Thanks for that story-- that's charming! I can just picture the grease monkeys under the Packards wearing bow ties. That's a detail they ought to put in a movie.
