Lillian E. Altman, widow of Arnold Altman, has passed away. The Altman family had a long association with Studebakers and Packard automobiles and were instrumental in the manufacturing of the Avanti II and owned Standard Surplus Co. also known as SASCO.

SOUTH BEND - Lillian E. Altman, 85, passed away peacefully in her home August 12, 2013. Her final wishes were to die at home and without pain; both of those desires happened. Born February 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Estes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold "Arry" Altman, whom she has now joined. Survivors include her two sons, Daniel Altman of Indianapolis, IN and Jonathan Altman of Carmel, IN; and a sister, Evelyn Maurer of Sarasota, FL. Lillian's two sons were able to say their final good-byes. Her last words to Jon were, "Get me out of here." Her two close friends, Christina and Terry, along with her dog, Charlie, were at her bedside when she passed. She was a well-known antiques dealer in the area. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Sinai Synagogue, 1102 E.
