My 1959 Silver Hawk has a T10 with a floor shift. One problem with is is that the 2-3 gate is very wide. Do you know who made the shifter on four-speed 1961 and later Hawks? Thanks.

My guess would be that Borg Warner may have had something to do with the shifter. Its essentially the same shifter used by the Chevys that used that same transmission. A Hurst Shifter for a 61 or 62 Impala will be a perfect fit for you. You will LOVE the way it shifts and feels. I've been using mine for decades without so much as a hiccup.

JMHO, but the OEM shifter detracts from the driving experience. As Sal said, go with a Hurst. If you want to look original, just use the stick mounted on the Hurst mechanism.

Back in the day there was a review of a 4-speed Avanti by one of the major car magazines, and they commented on that same thing. They wondered if Chevrolet had an exclusive with Borg-Warner for the better spacing for the Corvette.

Ansen Equipment made the original shifter.
