  • GT Hawk engines

As of late there have been 2 GT Hawks on Ebay as having 259 engines,is this correct? As I have seen 6 cyl. GT's and was under the mpression

    GT's came with a 289 c/i motor,unless 259 was a special order item.

AFAIK, any 6-cyl and 259" would have been export only. All others were 289". Many are surprised there were so many 210hp 2-bbl single exhaust GTs built. The 225hp 4-bbl was an option and the 289hp R2 a very rare option.

Unless they are Canadian Built, the chances are they have "Replacement" 259 Engines, or they are 289's and the owners do not know the difference.

For the three years, all that were to be sold in the USA had 289s. Sixes and 259s were available and built for export for all three model years.
