Is 450 a good price?

Block number is JTS1663. Cool since it was in a 63 Hawk.

Shouldn't a JTS have dished pistons?

450 was a good price to someone that already hit the BIN.

How do you know that "...it was in a 63 Hawk."? I can only tell that it was for a 1963 Lark, Cruiser or Hawk.

I think they used a bigger chamber in the head to reduce the compression ration..

Funny, I did not see he mentioned Lark, but I stand corrected..

Need the JTS master on the forum to ID its origins..

The Pan was not R2. But Oh well..

Somebody was not snoozing.

Seems this engine surface on 09 from this post..

As noted the R-series pan and vent pipe are missing. Note the current oil pan only has a few bolts holding it on, so very possibly the windage tray and the special main bearing cap studs that attach the windage tray are gone......especially since the oil pump is gone. The front timing cover is still the R-series. Now if someone owns the Daytona hardtop that this engine originally came in, I don't blame them for hitting the BIN so quick.

Interesting that the seller 'advertised' his $400 reserve. That may have contributed to someone hitting the BIN so fast.......for only $50 more than the reserve, you can just hit the BIN and be sure of getting the engine.

Funny thing is that the seller must have listed it earlier with no bids.

Hmm, local pickup in Pasadena, but he is registered on eBay as Culver City? Those two are a good distance away from "next door" to each other!

I hope John Myer didn't leave it behind in Culver City when he left years ago, because it was toast. :(

Hey, don't laugh about that. I once bought a seized JTS engine for real cheap, just because a friend needed a bunch of the accessories for the supercharger and such. I made good money parting it out. Then, someone found out I had the block and offered me as much for the block as I had paid for the whole enchilada.
You never know who needs what. Some items are worth more to one guy than they are to the next. I just try to meet the demands of those looking for whatever I happen to have.
