Anyone know off-hand if the Dana 23 and 27 use the same cover gasket?

    Thanks ahead.

I found that out too late. My local parts store ordered a 44 gasket for my 23. Once the cover was off, I found that it was an easy trace to make one. But then I know that if you don't have the gasket material on hand it may be cheaper to order a ready made one. Studebaker International cat. no. 1560245 Gasket. 1955-66 all models.............................$8.00 ea. This is the quoted number for both the 23 and 27. Price is from 2010. I love the smell of gear oil in the morning, have fun.

They are the same until 1963 (1555027). Then # 27 alone uses 1560245 and # 23 is discontinued.

I think that might mean the the #23 axle itself was no longer used.
