Perhaps he put off doing the tune up and starting it because there is no ignition switch! [:0] He failed to mention that (and the horn button) in his list of missing items. It might be worth $600 if you lived next door and could haul it home with a tractor, but this truck is useful only as a show piece. With such a short wheelbase they are impractical for driving. Now, if I could find a Stude road tractor that would be another thing....[]

Good point Guido. Still, it would be useful for a fifth-wheel trailer, wouldn't it? After all, that's all the commercial truck's trailers are. It'd still pull a lot more than Ed would.
Though the truck is only $600 the shipping would be several thousand, due to its location and the fact it doesn't run. Therefore two to three thousand dollars is out of my league.[8] Sigh.

Ron - I appreciate your position - I would not travel that far for this truck even if it was a freebie (unless there was a part on it I needed.

I dont have the TW article handy but I believe most were E13's with the odd E28.
Remember mobile homes were a lot smaller then(Ricky and Lucy towed one with a Cadillac) and even today the trucks that pull are usually 1 1/2ton to 2 ton trucks.

Heh - after seeing one of these drive around a bit at South Bend - man, I wouldn't want to drive one cross town, let alone on some hour-long trek![xx(]
Miscreant adrift in
the BerStuda Triangle
1957 Transtar 1/2ton
1960 Larkvertible V8
1958 Provincial wagon
1953 Commander coupe
No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.
