Tuned in to ESPN Saturday night with the intent of watching the NASCAR race, but had a little rain delay, Allen Beswick while talking and taking up time said he raced a 53 Studebaker in Conn. many years ago, thought it was neat.

I was on the Winston Cup pit crew of Mark Stahl in the late 80's. Mark told me he purchased a 53 Studebaker race car from a junk yard and would sometimes take it to his local track El Cahon near San Degio and let his friends drive it. He nicknamed it Hopper because it would hop thru the corners.

My Dad raced a 53 Studebaker at Seekonk Speedway in MA in 1967, 1968.
Had good success. Too much success!
Chevy teams got rules changed basically making it impossible to race a Studebaker so Dad switched to Ford.
Never had the same success as with the Studebaker!!
Great childhood memories for me.
