We're taking a day trip and going to check out the Museum in South Bend tomorrow. Wondering if there are any other worthwhile attractions there. Also, any unique "eateries" anyone may have been to??

'Hard to beat Barnaby's for pizza. Be sure to go down south to Chippewa and visit Studebaker International.

You can also see The Studebaker Administration Building and the Body Plant, next to each other along the elevated railroad tracks. There is still a lot to see, but far less than even 20 years ago, of course. BP

The Fiddler's Hearth on Main Street is a great place. We ate dinner there almost every evening we were in SB for the IM. Good food, great beer and wonderful atmosphere. Often local Celtic musicians play live music. http://www.fiddlershearth.com/menu.html

Check out the newly painted Studebaker murals at the J.M.S Building (John M. STUDEBAKER) on Main Street in the lobby. Also a new restaurant at The Doubletree Hotel downtown that has Studebaker theme named Bakers. It's hotel food. Work on Studebaker Plaza is to start soon on Jefferson and Michigan Streets which is the site of the original blacksmith shop and should be done if you come back this fall. There are also many buildings, churches and residences that were affiliated with the Studebaker family and I believe the Museum has a driving tour of them. Enjoy

Just got back from South Bend. Had a great time at the museum and then went to lunch at the Tippecanoe. Great choice! Drove around Notre Dame campus and then went to Studebaker International and picked up a couple items. Thanks for all the suggestions; the others will have to wait till the next visit.
