Bob, according to my book (Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946-1975) the beginning number for a Los Angeles built 1955 289 was PL2701. Sounds to me like that is what you have.

'56 Golden Hawk (3 speed/overdrive, Power steering - Running, but not yet driving)

Or maybe in your case Bob, a 1956 Sky Hawk possibly?

As Gary said, this is THE source for all of this info. It is found from the SDC Home Page on the Tech Tips, Specs and Data Link.

OOPS! I meant to say 1956. Yes, a President or a Sky Hawk.
