  • How often are the Studebaker international meets in south bend?

As the title states, I was curious as to how often the International meets come to South Bend, Indiana? Or where else are they located? I know this years is Colorado.. Is there a rotating schedule or are they held wherever has a opening?

Just want to plan ahead a little for the next south bend meet.. maybe even get my commander ready by then.

    thanks in advance.

As Bob (2R5) stated, they are usually every five years in South Bend. The other SDC conventions are rotated around the country to make them accessable to more people. As you stated, this year is Colorado Springs, Colorado. Next year is Dover, Delaware, 2015 is Maryland Heights, Missouri. SDC Chapters make bids on hosting the SDC International Convention. The SDC Board does try to keep the conventions moving around the country to benefit most of the membership.

If you haven't been to an SDC Int'l meet, you are in for a treat if you do go to one. The first thing you will notice is the feeling that you're in a time-warp. There are Studes all over the place. One of the things I always love is the seminars, especially the Cooperator sessions. I also love the auction on Wednesday and the concours on Thursday. Also, don't miss the Studebaker Club band concert on both Wednesday evening and on Thursday during the concours. Of course, meeting Studebaker people is the highlight of the event. There are no better folks than Stude folks.

looks like it's about time to plan for a International Meet for the southeast!

Wilmington, NC (a new convention center, hotel/motels everywhere, the beaches). Myrtle Beach SC, Charleston SC, Savannah GA... the non-interested wives/kids could enjoy a "vacay" at the beach, while we do our thing!!!

              '51 Champion Business Coupe - (Tom's Car). Purchased 11/2012.

              '40 Champion. sold 10/11. '63 Avanti R-1384. sold 12/10.

Sounds good to me! You just need to come up with a Chapter or Chapters to run it. My wife, Cathy, falls into the interested category. She doesn't go to the wifey type events.

ok, Mr. L - the gauntlet has been thrown!

Tri-State folks, speak up! i know most of y'all were around when Charlotte was the host city in 2004. shoot, i'll even volunteer to get all the info needed for Wilmington to be the host city... do whatever needs to be done as far as approval (or not).

I have been present at the vast majority since 1971, but Richard really holds the record, maybe with a couple of others, like Larry Swanson and Colin Fort.

If you get together something for NC I will try to make it out there. always wanted to check out that area, and a stude meet on top of it would be sweet.

In 2011, I got re-acquainted with Studebaker and buying an Avanti II after last owning a 64 Avanti in 1969. I grew up in a Studebaker driving family, so the Stude roots in my family go back to before my birth. I attended my first Studebaker International Meet in Springfield, MO in 2011 and decided to attend as many as I can, driving my Stude vehicle to the meets. I did not drive the Avanti to Springfield as it was still in the shop, but have driven it to Gettysburg and South Bend. We'll be heading to Colorado Springs the end of June. The meets are a great way to meet others as afflicted with the Studebaker disease as I am. SDC and AOAI members are great groups. Try to get to the meet this year, its a great way to meet nice people, see some really nice cars, and get parts and sometimes cars!
