      What year is your radio?

Certain speaker sizes can be reconed, but other sizes are NLA. The ones that can no longer be reconed are 5X7, 4X8, and 7 1/4 inch.

Dan Skidmore (?) advertises radio repair in buisness card section of TW. A local (central Calif. coast) guy, also Dan, operates Bob's Radio in Oceano/Pismo Beach, CA; he does both repair and updates to FM/Stereo. He did my '63 Hawk radio - Great person, very helpful.

                    Hi,

                    I got this response.

Hi, yes there are several places that sell speaker cones.

                    What year is the Studey?

Before 1955 the vibrator is most likely at fault. After 1955, it could be the big germanium transistor.

Does he want authentic AM with vacuum tubes and a new solid state vibrator, or does he want it to look authentic, but have an AM/FM conversion circuit board installed? The radio comes on in AM, turn it off and on again, now you are listening to FM. Radio looks original in every way.

I don't do this conversion but there is a Seattle guy that does. There's too much red tape for shipping a radio across the border twice, not worth the customs duties. They won't let a package of mysterious cylindrical objects go without a search, and then they will charge for searching the package and finding nothing.

Here's link to some repair guys.

                    http://www.radiosforoldcars.com/enterpwF.htm

The link takes you to a dealer page with a password bar. Ignore the password thingie and use the left menu. They have a dealer directory so you can locate someone near you.

I'll see what I can find out about the "guy in Seattle."

For very reasonable radio repairs on automotive units I high recommend SOUTH TEXAS ANTIQUE ELECTRONICS in Portland Texas 361 739-4181. Rene has a vast knowledge of all radios, he is honest, precise, and nearly half the price of others previously mentioned in this post. He has repaired our Champion's unit as well as our complicated Lincoln stereo enhanced radios as well as our homes wood console and farm battery operated radios. AWESOME is the word !
