Happy Days Here. Set a new R-Boss 300 record Saturday on 9 lbs of boost at VMP shake down (warm up run) before the qualifying call for the 11.00 Index. With R cam, iron R intake, DIY heads and single turbo with powerglide the Avanti ran:

1.468 4.321 6.750 @ 1oo.70 8.866 10.681 @ 123.01

On the first qualify run I backed out to see if I could hit the index and broke out with 10.922 @ 108.14
On the second qualify run I pulled the timing back and lowered the spring tension. Ran 11.134 @ 118.66. That qualified the Stude 300 for third place in a field of 9.

Won the first round on a early backout: 11.194 @ 107.15
Won the second round : 11.096 @ 119.14 (this win gave me the bye run for the third round)
Won the third round: 11.125 @ 119.03
Final round puts me against a car that is hugging the floor on every run so add a few degrees timing back to gain some power for the .100+ over the dial.
Car runs perfect but breaks out by a .009 on a 10.991 @ 120.63

Wanted the final win so much but thankful just to qualify and not have engine problems. Engine ran flawless. My best light was a .003 RT. Tight field with some much bigger displacement engines then 300 cubes. See chart for those who shared their engine sizes. Some didn't. Nice runner up money and trophy. Life is Good in a Studebaker Powered Car.
