  • Electrical: Power window - Relay question

I'm a doltz with most things electronic, so please have mercy on me. :-)

The previous owner of my Avanti (63) project butchered the electrical system and I had to go thru it, wire by wire.

I'm having power window issues and guess my idea of feeding the circuit from the battery with a 10 gauge wire and in-line 30a fuse isn't such a good one.

Where and how do I wire in a relay? There wasn't one when I got the car.

One day, I'd like to be able to drive and enjoy this thing without something shorting out, breaking off, or stopping altogether. Ha ha ha!!

I am not at home, but I have a catalog from Ron Francis Wiring, that may have what you need. The catalog is free.

The current edition of the AOAI magazine has an excellent article on power windows. Try to get a copy.

Thanks, Guys. I have the one-wire alternator and no external voltage regulator. This schematic is simple enough to follow but without a regulator, I'm not sure where to cut it into the circuit.

The Alternator "B" wire should go straight to the side of the start relay where the +12 from the battery connects..... Same with the +12 supply to the power windows

There should be a power window relay on the inner fender close to the horn relay on the driver's side. I don't have this car anymore, but I think this picture shows the power window relay and the horn relay.
