  • Frame / Springs: Question (and funny observation)..

Can anyone answer why Studebaker placed lock washers with the upper inner A-frame bracket-to-frame and used flat washers on heh lowers ? And assuming I will re-thread by die....should I use lock tite on the inner bolts w/ flat washers ?

Lock Tite wouldn't hurt. I am guessing that they figured that to change the camber it would sometimes need to turn the upper control arm shaft 180 degrees so the lock washers were a "just in case" thing. Other than replacing the bushings the lower arms have no need for removal & even then the bushings can be replaced one at a time without removing them.

....yea .. that's the rub here with me...I always send out the frames as a whole without dismantling.....I've had a few fronts that loosened after some miles.....
