  • Electrical: Grounds: Where are they, and how many are there??

On a Studebaker Avanti, how many grounds are there, and where are they located?

From memory I only can think of the following:....motor mount to frame, white wire out of harness to attach to emission shielding, I think some kind of small wire on the other side of the steering rag joint.............am I close or way off???

    Thanks

I think there are many more. On a Studebaker Avanti, I believe any time You come across a WHITE wire it's a ground wire!

There is sure to be one back near the Fuel Tank, Stop/Tail/Turn, Trunk Lights to the Frame.
And up front near the Head, Parking, and Turn Lights and Horns.

There's also one to the voltage regulator, a jumper to the horn relay, and the starter solenoid. And grounds to the gas tank sending unit, plus every instrument and dash light has a ground somewhere in the circuit. Everywhere you have power to something it has to complete the circuit to ground. It can be direct, or in the case of some gauges, through a sending unit (variable resistance)to ground.

All the white waires are grounds, being a fiberglass body, everything needs to have a gound wire. Including the starter relay.
