Did you ever tried glass polish?

I did 3M Glas Compoud Polishing , it is fine for small scratches or smear:

whatever causes these scratches! I have some of these

before and after 4 minutes work with a polishing machine, not bad - and the window gets realy clear, very easily

I have used crocus cloth followed by silver polish. Takes a LOT of rubbing, but it works.

The best thing to use is Cerium Oxide on a hard felt buffing pad. Chuck the pad in a drill and mix a thick slurry of compound and water or glass cleaner. Buff the affected area, keeping it moist.Do not run the pad too fast and cause the buffing area to dry out. Buffing is only effective on laminated glass (windshields and pre '59 sideglass) because it is relatively soft. Tempered glass is too hard. The rule of er thumb... Is ,if the scratch will catch your finghr nIl it is too deep to buff without causing a visually distorted spot. The buffing pad and Cerium Oxide can be.purchased thru your local glass shop or the C R Laurence Co. in Chicago. CRL is a major supplier of equipment and supplies to the automotive and archetectural industry.
