  • Speedo / Tach / Gauges: speedometer and odometer quit

I rebuilt the speedometer on the 50 champion while I had the dash laying on the workbench. After 620 miles the needle started jumping around and then went to 0 and appeared to be trying to go backward below 0 and then quit moving. I hope to tear into it soon, what should I look for first?

I would start with checking the cable first. Disconnect it at the speedo head and pull cable out and see if it has twisted off.
