  • Studebaker Hamilton Plant Bricks

If the Hamilton Chapter can recover a quantity of bricks from the Studebaker Hamilton Plant, currently being demolished, how much of an interest is out there from members who would be willing to pay $5 for one of these bricks, delivered to South Bend this May? Since a quick decision is necessary, respond here, or send me a PM. I will need responses no later than Monday January 14th. At this point, nothing is guaranteed but if we are able to make this offer then reservations would be on a first come, first serve basis to the limit of our supply.

Put me down for a couple, if possible, one if the demand is high, delivered to Colorado. If that won't work, I still have relatives in South Bend that may be able to collect them for me. Just let me know.

I would like one and would bet that our chapter could be good for 10 or more. I'll ask at our next get together.

Just a thought, but once these bricks are in the US, they could be shipped resonably by Priority Mail. They have different size boxes that ship for a flat rate. The medium and large boxes, $11 and $15 would hold multiple bricks so if several members from an area wanted to share shipping.......Just a thought.
Stu, will there be any documentation with these bricks? A rose tone picture of the Hamilton Plant, dated and signed by a highly regarded Studebaker of Canada Executive, like yourself?

I'll try to remember to mention this at my Chapter's meeting tomorrow.

If nothing else- between Dad, Mike and Me we'd like one each.
But I'm almost certain we won't be in SB- can that work?

When I was shipping out Foundry bricks and bottles of cores sand I always used flat rate priority boxes. They are fairly cheap to send and seem to work well for bricks.

Canada Post does not have the same flat rate program as the USPS so we would not be getting into any shipping situation. If we do have a quantity available for the U.S. it will be very limited. And no, we will not be planning any documentation. We'll keep you all posted Tuesday morning; please remember this is all very tentative.

Good luck with this generous offer!!!

Over the years there was a lot of "interest expressed" by many in our "imported" so they could be much more desirable.
