If the weather allows I'll be replacing my '64 Daytona windshield soon. As best I can tell an appropriate caulking/bedding compound is 3M TRM-8509. This is stated to be appropriate for rubber "gasketed" windshield installation. It seems to be about the only product I could find for such a purpose. I live in a suburban "bedroom community" and dashing down to the local auto body store to see what they recommend is not a logical option. Years ago the closest auto body store had a limited selection of anything and - a 19 year old counter person with an attitude. So, I'll likely order from Summit.
Relating to the windshield installation, it seems like having some clearance between the dash and the lower windshield is prudent. Complete removal of the dash does not seem necessary, but moving it back a few inches (maybe 2") should help. How difficult is this. I know the speedometer cable needs to be pulled. Is there enough slack in the wire harness? Anything else needed to expedite the process? I'm trying to avoid that process where by I find 10 things that need to be disconnect - "one by one." You know where you disconnect, move it a 1/4" then encounter the next tentacle encumbering the movement.
Thanks, Tom
